Gentle
- there is no manipulation or strong pressure involved, the practitioners hands are placed gently in contact with the body in a series of pre-determined hand positions that cover the major organs and areas where stress is held in the body. People often experience a soothing warmth from the practitioners hands that can be very comforting.
Non-intrusive
– you receive treatment fully clothed, you can also be covered with a blanket, with the practitioners hands resting on top. There is no medication or anything else to swallow, no substances are put on the skin. Just a warm, gentle touch.
Flexible
– as no special equipment is required, treatment can be given in a variety of settings, from a dedicated treatment room to a hospital bed. You will usually lie down to receive treatment, but Reiki treatment can also be given to someone sitting in a chair. The time of the treatment is usually around an hour, but this can be reduced or extended according to need. For example Reiki could be given to someone in a hospital bed, without needing to disturb the patient and for a shorter time if there are other treatments that also need to take place.
How it works
You will make an appointment with me
at the venue most convenient for you. There will be an initial consultation where I will take some details, including exploring what you need Reiki for.
You will then lie or sit comfortably and I will place my hands in a series of positions that cover the major organs and areas where stress is held in the body.
You may fall asleep, which doesn't interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment. You may notice sensations such as warmth, tingling, pulsations or twitches, all of which are normal responses to Reiki healing.
After the treatment is finished you will be given time to get up and will be offered some water to drink. You are advised to drink plenty of water and take it easy for the rest of the day.
