Lineage: A question of connection

In Usui Shiki Ryoho (the system of Reiki I practice and teach) the Spiritual Lineage and the master's the lineage (or line of teachers) is seen as important.  The Spiritual Lineage are those masters who have each in their time been the figurehead for the system.   Knowing the lineage is like knowing our family tree: it gives us a sense of connection to the source of this practice.  The story of the Spiritual Lineage is told in First Degree Reiki classes.

The Spiritual Lineage

Mikao Usui (Japan) who founded the system of
healing known as Reiki and taught:

Chujiro Hayashi (Japan) who taught:

Hawayo Takata (Hawaii) who brought Reiki
 out of Japan and taught:

Phyllis Lei Furumoto (USA) who defined
this practice with the
help of another of Takata's masters
Paul Mitchell

Wanja was born in Sweden and moved to Canada, where she met and was taught by Hawayo Takata.

  • Chujiro Hayashi
  • Hawayo Takata
  • Wanja Twan
  • Martha Sylvester
  • Kate Jones
I also recognise and honour Phyllis Lei Furumoto as the present Lineage Bearer of Usui Shiki Ryoho.
